My Prediction...

This year’s NBA Finals is not the match up that everyone thought they would see at the beginning of the season, but the Spurs vs. Heat makes an intriguing one. Miami’s “Big 3” vs. San Antonio’s “Big 3.” The face of the NBA, Lebron James going up against the “Big Fundamental";Tim Duncan who at this point in his career is undefeated in every finals trip, and even took a ring from Lebron back in 2007. Here they are again getting ready to square off for another title, but this time Lebron James is a member of the Miami Heat.

The Miami Heat are making their third straight finals appearance and are looking to repeat as champions, but the road to repeating will not be easy because the Spurs are perfect in the NBA finals, and possess the talent to knock off Miami. This series is huge for both James and Duncan, their legacies are on the line, but for James, he needs this championship more than Duncan to solidify his place among NBA greats because Duncan is already there…

The stars leading the way for both of these teams have been here before. Lebron James and his then “Cleveland Cavaliers” team went up against the Spurs in the finals back in 2007, but of course were no match for them. The Spurs swept the Cavs in their only finals appearance. A lot has changed in the NBA since then and now Lebron James looks to return the favor to Tim Duncan and the Spurs. But, what will this victory or defeat do to Lebron's legacy?

This is Lebron James fourth NBA finals appearance and if he doesn’t win this one, he may gain comparisons to Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain instead of Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. Two players who changed the NBA landscape. West and Chamberlain are two of the greatest players to ever play in the league, but they also lost many times in the NBA Finals leading many to question weather they were truly great players, and Lebron does not want to be in that class of constantly losing in the finals.

It’s not that West and Chamberlain chocked or were shut down, but they went up against great Celtic teams and Knick teams who were dominate. They both won championships, but West made it to the finals for 9 straight years and only won once, and that was on his last try. Chamberlain won two championships, but was touted as a loser for never getting his teams over the hump, but at the same time he ran into Bill Russell when playoff time came around each year, and Russell usually got the best of him and West. And if Lebron loses this series then he may join these two legends who had great individual stats, but ran into better teams in the finals.

The Heat on paper has the better group of stars, but the Spurs have been here before and simply know how to win. Lebron James is without a doubt is on a mission to win another championship, and in my opinion it looks like he may lead the Heat to a title again this year.

Lebron has averaged 26.2 points a game in the playoffs this year and won his fourth MVP this year. He has shut down the doubters like myself, and has shown that he is Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson combined. But he needs more than one championship to achieve greatness.
For these reasons, I believe that the Heat will win this series in 7 games. It is hard to pick against a great team like the San Antonio Spurs, but Lebron and company may be just too much. The Spurs are another team trying to beat Lebron James, but unfortunately, the Spurs will taste defeat for the first time in their history while Lebron continues his mission of dominating a league that has no answer for him and his Miami Heat team. Miami in 7, but San Antonio will make them look bad for a few games and will make Lebron earn his second ring. Peace…
